Pembrokeshire's Assembly Members have welcomed the news that the Paul Sartori Foundation is to get an extra £6,500 in funding from the Welsh Assembly.
The hospice at home charity had warned it may have to fold after it was awarded just eight days' worth of transitional funding.
An urgent meeting to discuss the situation was set up by Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies between the charity, the Welsh Health Minister and Baroness Finlay who made the funding recommendation.
"I am delighted to say that as a result of getting all the parties around one table the charity will now be awarded £22,650 instead of the £16,150 that it was initially given," said Mr Davies.
"There was a huge public reaction to the plight of the Paul Sartori Foundation which showed just how vital it is to our county. I am glad that the government has now been able to increase the settlement."
Mrs Burns added: "The Paul Sartori Foundation has provided a wonderful service in Pembrokeshire for more than 25 years and it would have been criminal to see it closed because of a lack of funding.
"I hope that as a result of meeting the charity's officers face to face and hearing about their work that the Welsh Assembly Government will continue to make appropriate amounts of funding available to them."
