PEMBROKESHIRE'S Hospice at Home movement desperately needs more money to carry on doing its good work, AM Paul Davies has learned.
He was told about the funding crisis facing the Paul Sartori Foundation when he visited their headquarters in Haverfordwest.
Paul Sartori is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and employs 32 nurses and carers who provide 14,000 hours of care to the terminally ill in Pembrokeshire every year.
But they are currently running at a £30,000 monthly deficit and had their funding allocation from Pembrokeshire's Local Health Board reduced by £10,000 to £90,000 this financial year.
"Paul Sartori needs to have an income of £600,000 a year to continue doing the amazing job they do, caring for the terminally ill in their homes in Pembrokeshire," said Paul Davies AM.
"I am now writing to the health minister to ask her to explain on what basis
hospices are funded. Paul Sartori has done a wonderful job in Pembrokeshire for 25 years and must be able to continue to do so for many more years to come."
