Local Assembly Member Paul Davies is encouraging people across Pembrokeshire to have their say on the future of community learning for adults. Pembrokeshire County Council has arranged a series of meetings across the County for people to discuss what they consider to be the best way to deliver Adult and Community Learning in the future, following a reduction in funding from the Welsh Labour Government.
Mr Davies said, “I’m disappointed that the Welsh Government has decided to reduce the funding it gives Pembrokeshire County Council to provide these important educational and communal facilities. Adult and Community Learning programmes offer people the chance to develop new skills and refresh existing skills in the comfort of their local area, as well as bringing local communities together socially.”
He added, “Therefore, it’s vitally important that people across Pembrokeshire make their views known on how best to support Adult and Community Learning in the future and I would urge everyone to try and attend one of the public meetings. Pembrokeshire County Council must now collaborate and find creative solutions to delivering community learning programmes, that won’t burden the public pocket.”
