Foot and Mouth restrictions on Pembrokeshire farmers will be lifted as soon as possible, the Welsh Rural Affairs minister has reassured Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies.
The issue was raised at a meeting held between the AM and Elin Jones when she visited the Pembrokeshire County Show on Wednesday.
"She gave me assurances that Foot and Mouth restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible, possibly earlier here than in the other regions," said Mr Davies. "Obviously this is not a race between Scotland, England and Wales to be the first to get back to normal but she assured me that if it is safe to do so then she will.
"I heard a lot of concerns from farmers at the show about the impact the movement ban is having and I've also been told by auctioneers that they may have to look at laying off staff if the restrictions stay in place for much longer."
