A much-need footbridge in Lower Town, Fishguard may be on the cards, following correspondence from local Assembly Member Paul Davies. Mr Davies has written to the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport calling for the implementation of a footpath to better support pedestrians on the A487.
Mr Davies said, “Local residents are justifiably concerned about the dangers posed to pedestrians on this particular stretch of road and so it’s important that the Welsh Government find a safer solution for the community. It is essential that a safe walkway for pedestrians is created to separate them from vehicles, many of which are heavy goods vehicles. I’m pleased that the Minister has confirmed that discussions are taking place with Pembrokeshire County Council and I await the outcomes of those discussions. Whilst this is a step in the right direction, the pressure must be kept up to ensure the right result is reached.”
