Wales’ First Minister Rhodri Morgan has refused to reveal once again whether rail services will be improved from Fishguard.
The Jacobs Report into transport recommends that another five services a day should be laid on to the busy north Pembrokeshire port.
The issue has been raised repeatedly in the Welsh Assembly by Preseli Pembrokeshire’s AM Paul Davies but Mr Morgan won’t give any reassurances.
"I am sure that the First Minister is aware of the report so I asked him if, seeing as the Government refuses to dual the A40 to Pembrokeshire, he’d be in favour of increasing the trains to Fishguard," said Mr Davies.
"If he’s not going to do the right thing and improve the A40 then he must improve transport links to the west in other ways. Improving rail services would also be greener and of great benefit to the tourist trade.
"However, instead of answering the question I have just got a re-affirmation that he does not think there’s enough demand to dual the A40 and a bland promise that they are eager to invest in public transport.
"Despite what the professionals are telling him, Mr Morgan seems determined to bury his head in the sand on this one."
