Welsh Conservatives have welcomed UK Government confirmation of additional tax relief for two enterprise zones; in Ebbw Vale and Haven Waterway.
Announced in the autumn statement, enhanced capital allowances will enable a business to claim 100 per cent first-year capital allowances on their spending on qualifying plant and machinery.
Shadow Minister for Business, Nick Ramsay AM, said:
"This is extremely welcome news that will support job creation in these zones and promote further growth and investment.
"Allowing more businesses to invest in equipment and gain tax relief is exactly the kind of commitment our economy needs.
"Since the UK Government first announced and introduced enterprise zones in England, similar Welsh Government developments have progressed sluggishly.
"Wales remains near the bottom of the UK league table for attracting inward investment. I hope today's announcement will prompt Labour ministers to finalise all enterprise zone details and give businesses the certainty they need."
South Wales East Assembly Member William Graham said:
"I am extremely heartened to hear this form of tax relief will be available in Ebbw Vale.
"The UK Government's confirmation will give businesses here the further assurances they need.
"It's now incumbent upon Welsh Labour ministers to speed up final details and make sure all Welsh enterprise zones are fully equipped and working towards economic growth."
Assembly Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire Paul Davies said:
"The Haven Waterway zone is critical to economic growth in west Wales and I wholeheartedly welcome the extra jobs and support that this announcement will bring.
"Enhanced capital allowances will increase the appeal of this zone to businesses and provide the further certainty and confidence that they deserve."
