Estyn Report Demands Urgent Action

This is damning verdict on standards in Welsh schools in spite of the best efforts of our teachers

Commenting on the publication of Estyn's report into standards in Welsh schools, Paul Davies AM, Shadow Minister for Education, said:

"This is damning verdict on standards in Welsh schools in spite of the best efforts of our teachers.

"Coming just weeks after OECD figures showed Wales at the bottom of the league table of UK nations for literacy, numeracy and science, this report raises further concerns about Labour-Plaid's failing policies.

"We need a fresh approach giving schools control over their funding and empowering teachers, parents and governors to make more decisions because they know better than politicians what is best for their local school."
