A recent report into the public funding of Ffynone & Cilgwyn Woodlands by Forestry Commission Wales has highlighted a number of concerns over community involvement and adequate management.
Commenting on the report, local Assembly Member, Paul Davies said, "It is clear that there are weaknesses in the way that the Cydcoed scheme has been run and the way in which Ffynone and Cilgwyn woodland in North Pembrokeshire has been monitored by Forestry Commission Wales.
"The Auditor General has made it clear that there is no sufficient community involvement in the management of the woodland and it is also clear that Forestry Commission Wales' procedures have not been robust enough to protect tax payers' money.
"I hope that the recommendations of this report will be taken on board by the Forestry Commission and that they will work more closely with the Growing Heart worker's co-operative to ensure greater community involvement in the future as well as implement new processes to ensure more robust management of future woodland projects."
