Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies is supporting the new national Carbon Monoxide awareness campaign, Be Alarmed.
The Be Alarmed campaign is the national campaign to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by Carbon Monoxide. Research from the national campaign suggests that more than eight out of 10 homes in Wales could be at risk because they do not have carbon monoxide alarms.
Paul Davies said, "I am pleased to support this important campaign. All fuel-burning appliances (including stoves, fires, boilers and water heaters) can produce Carbon Monoxide and they need to be serviced annually by a registered and qualified engineer. Carbon Monoxide poisoning can cause death or permanent injury to you or your loved ones and it is therefore essential that the people of Pembrokeshire are vigilant and proactive in protecting their homes."
"I would like to urge the people of Pembrokeshire to consider checking and making sure that their appliances have been properly serviced and that they have a working carbon monoxide smoke alarm on their premises. People can buy an alarm from around £15 at DIY stores, supermarkets, or even from energy suppliers. It's a small price to pay to avoid such tragic circumstances."
