Irish politicians, planners, road haulage bosses and ferry companies are just some of the movers and shakers that South Pembrokeshire AM Angela Burns will visit during a tour aimed at forging better transport links between Ireland and Wales.
Mrs Burns, who was recently appointed shadow Welsh Transport Minister, will be using the visit to strengthen the case for dualling the A40. Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies will also be joining her on the trip.
"With two major Irish ferry ports in our county, our main roads are practically an extension of the Irish road network," said Mrs Burns.
"We shall be visiting Wexford and Waterford County Council, representatives from the ferry companies and also meeting the Irish Road Users Association and the Irish Road Hauliers Association to discuss how we can improve our roads," she said.
"We are also visiting the Irish parliament in Dublin for meetings with the Irish Transport Minister, the European Affairs Minister and the Deputy Chief Whip.
"I hope that we will be able to discuss a number of issues, not just what they would like see happen to the A40, but also what can be done about Irish lorries parking up outside our ports over weekends and learning how they used convergence funding for regeneration, especially in rural areas.
Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies added: "I am looking forward to discussing a number of issues on this trip and learning more about the Irish road network. I am sure that forging closer ties between these two areas that are already linked in so many ways will be of great benefit."
