Preseli Pembrokeshire AM, Paul Davies has today spoken out following the Post Office Ltd's announcement that it is continuing with all proposed closures in the constituency.
Mr Davies said: "To say that I am disappointed with Post Office Ltd's decision to go ahead with the closures of the Bwlchygroes and Prendergast branches is an understatement.
"When Post Office Ltd announced that it would review the proposals to close these branches, both my affected constituents and I hoped that the decision would be overturned.
"However, they have ignored the vast amounts of local opposition and are pursuing with a course of action that will undoubtedly have a negative affect on the communities that these branches serve."
Mr Davies also expressed his concern about the consultation process: "The consultation process has been little more than a sham. There were several other branches, such as Clarbeston Road, Mathry and Eglwyswrw, that submitted very strong cases to be saved. Yet, Post Office Ltd did not even reconsider their proposals for these branches.
"The effect of these closures will be felt across the county. By proceeding with the closures and downgrading of services, Post Office Ltd is isolating the people of Pembrokeshire by limiting the availability of vital services offered by their local branches."
