Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Paul Davies is congratulating households in Pembrokeshire for an increase in the rate of municipal waste dry recycling and composting.
The annual rate for Pembrokeshire has continued to increase, from 26 per cent in 2006-07 to 41 per cent in 2009-10. This rate, based on final figures, is slightly above the target of 40 per cent municipal reuse/recycling/composting for 2009-10.
Local Assembly Member Paul Davies said, "I am very pleased to see that more and more people in Pembrokeshire are reusing and recycling. It is essential that Pembrokeshire plays its part in tackling climate change and protecting the local environment."
"These figures show that people are taking more responsibility for the waste that they produce, which is an encouraging message. This is something that I hope that we can build on for the future. I would like to congratulate the people of Pembrokeshire for their good work and to urge everyone to continue to reuse, recycle and compost in 2011."
