Plans to dual the A40 in Pembrokeshire have finally been agreed in principle by the First Minister, following calls from local Assembly Member Paul Davies. At a scrutiny session in Whitland, Mr Davies asked the First Minister to share his ambition to turn the A40 in Pembrokeshire into a dual carriageway, and the First Minister agreed and said that the financial position needed to be further looked at to see whether it is possible.
Mr Davies said, "I'm pleased that the First Minister has finally confirmed in principle to dual the A40 in Pembrokeshire. This road would provide a huge number of economic benefits to businesses in the area, as it would provide job opportunities and go some way to attracting inward investment to the County. It would also help make travelling in Pembrokeshire much easier for residents and for the thousands of visitors that come to the area each year. Therefore, I'm delighted that the First Minister has finally agreed in principle to this necessary transport upgrade for west Wales, and I look forward to hear more about the financial position of dualling this road in the future."
